THE POSITION

The Quality Technician is a methodical, detail-oriented, and proactive member of the Quality Department, responsible for executing daily quality activities to sustain product and process conformity, maintain accurate quality records, and support continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING AN IMPACT
  • Perform inspections of incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Prepare and review quality documentation, including non-conformance reports (NCR), first article inspections (FAI), and Certificates of Conformance (CoC).
  • Support calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment to ensure measurement accuracy.
  • Identify non-conforming products or processes and report issues to relevant team.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of quality documentation, such as PPAP, Control Plans, and FMEA.
  • Investigate non-conforming products and assist in developing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct and support internal audits to maintain ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certifications.
  • Support customer complaint resolution by participating in root cause analysis and implementing 8D reports.
  • Provide technical support to the production team to address quality-related issues on the shop floor.
  • Deviation/concession implementation support (verify identification, acceptance criteria, validity limits)
WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU REQUIRE
  • Education:

    BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology Certificate.
  • Minimum 5 years of related quality experience.
  • General familiarity of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of quality systems, standards, and methods (e.g., ISO 9001, SPC, FMEA, PPAP).
  • Extensive background in manufacturing processes and practices.
  • Blueprint reading; understanding CTQs and acceptance criteria; strong attention to detail.
  • Measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.); inspection documentation/ERP is an asset.
  • CMM measurement/reporting and basic program handling; interpreting results and maintaining controlled records.
  • Experience in manufacturing processes for electronics, mechanical, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma process improvement is considered an asset.
  • Computer knowledge and skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Solid Works or similar CAD software.
  • General knowledge of various materials and properties used in processes such as plastics, metal fabrication, rubber, castings, stampings, etc.
  • Work well under pressure and under tight timelines.
  • High level of organizational skills, detail oriented, and analytical.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • An energetic, diligent work ethic and able to work with little supervision.
