We are looking for a Quality Control Laboratory Technician to join our team in a permanent, full-time position at the Côté Gold mine site in Ontario.
This role is composed of 20% Laboratory material testing, and 80% of administrative tasks. These proportions may vary depending on project requirements.
As part of their duties, the Quality Control Laboratory Technician must:
Laboratory Specific Tasks- Keep track of production numbers and plan testing to ensure QA/QC schedule is met.
- Collect material samples from field locations and production sites in accordance with sampling standards.
- Label, log, and track samples to ensure traceability.
- Prepare samples for testing (including drying, sieving, splitting, etc.).
- Ensure samples are handled, stored, and disposed of properly.
- Enter results and data into tracking system, summary logs, and send reports to clients.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and traceability of test records.
- Support internal audits and third‑party inspections.
- Maintain awareness of specification changes and testing updates.
- Operate laboratory equipment safely and correctly.
- Perform routine calibration checks and equipment verification.
- Clean, maintain, and organize laboratory tools and work spaces.
- Report equipment malfunctions or calibration issues to supervision.
- Work in accordance with Health and Safety policies and regulations.
- Work in an environment where safety is top priority.
- Prepare, compile, and issue daily, weekly, and operational reports for clients within strict contractual deadlines.
- Consolidate data from multiple sources, including laboratory test results, field notes and supervisor inputs.
- Track report submission deadlines and confirm receipt by client representatives.
- Maintain version control and ensure corrected or revised reports are clearly identified and re‑issued when required.
- Assist with scheduling and accommodation booking.
- Handle sensitive operational and technical data with discretion.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism in all written and verbal communications.
- Work in accordance with Health and Safety policies and regulations.
- Work in an environment where safety is top priority.
- Diploma or certificate in Civil Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering, Geotechnical Technology, or a related field.
- Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience in a Mining environment (would be an asset).
- Bilingualism (English‑French, an asset).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to follow written procedures and technical standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift samples and work in laboratory and field environments.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and data management systems.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced mining environment.
- Clear, professional written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
