Research Associate Position in Microbiology

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is looking for a Research Associate-II to support transformative research projects. This role requires expertise in biological engineering and bioinformatics, involving independent research, grant activities, and collaborative projects. You will also mentor students and staff while coordinating lab operations and ensuring safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and conduct independent research projects

• Support large sample collections and environmental genomics

• Maintain biological resource collections in UBC Biobank

• Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations and safety compliance

• Manage laboratory inventories and procurement processes

Requirements:

• PhD in molecular biology, genetics, or related field

• 6+ years laboratory experience with molecular techniques

• Strong leadership and communication skills

• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams

• Proven organizational and problem-solving abilities
