- Qualifications
MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Masters of Science (M.Sc.) in a related area of study is required.
An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
EXPERIENCE:
Advanced data management and analysis skills are required.
Experience with use of modelling techniques (HYDRUS and other hydrological models, PEST) is required.
Soil Physics background required.
Soil sampling and field data collection and management experience is required.
Laboratory experience required.
Soil moisture and temperature sensor installation and management experience required.
Weather station installation and management experience required.
Remote sensing experience required.
Experience using SAS for data management and analysis is required.
Experience with computer language (Python) for data management and analysis is required.
Experimental and treatment design experience required.
Experience with farmer relations required.
Experience with environmental risk assessment is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The following skills are required:
HYDRUS modelling
SAS statistical tool
Field data collection and management
Field instrumentation
Remote sensing
Laboratory analysis
Interpersonal skill
Effective communication skills (written and oral)
Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
Key responsibilities
Set up field and laboratory research experiments
Develop experimental and treatment design
Develop sampling protocol
Set up field plots and instrumentation
Set up laboratory experiments and instrumentation
Supervise and train students (undergraduate and graduate students) on research methods
Conduct training sessions for undergraduate research assistants and new graduate students on research and sampling protocols
Support data collection and analysis
Provide support to research team on field and laboratory data collection
Manage and Analyze data
Manage and analyze data
Develop statistical and modelling tools
Develop manuscripts and reports
Develop manuscript and reports
Other duties as assigned.
