Qualifications

MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Completion of undergraduate degree, preferably in a health science, with three years of directly related experience is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with all phases of carrying out a research project both qualitative and quantitative health research, is required.
  • Experience working with the 2

    SLGBTQ+ community is required.
  • Experience discussing sensitive topics, including sexual health, in a professional and respectful manner is required.
  • Experience with survey data collection, individual open-ended interviews, writing field notes, participant observation, focus group interviews, and photovoice is required.
  • Experience with community outreach or community-based research approaches is required.
  • Experience with knowledge mobilization for both academic and non-academic communities is required.
  • Experience using computer software related to word processing for data collection or organization is required.
  • Familiarity with confidentiality and security issues related to research is required.
  • Experience using computer software related to word processing and data management (e.g., Microsoft Office) is required.
  • Experience with literature searches and retrieval, as well as academic writing is required.
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Key responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and confidential research records and databases
  • Coordinate meetings, schedules, and project logistics
  • Assist with preparation and formatting of research materials, reports, and presentations
  • Support ethics submissions, renewals, and ensure compliance with institutional guidelines
  • Manage study documentation and file organization
  • Communicate with team members and participants regarding scheduling and logistics
  • Provides updates and progress reports to members of the research team and stakeholders
  • Assigns and directs work of research support staff, ensuring deadlines are met and research protocol and regulatory requirements of the U of M and funding agencies are followed
  • Monitors the progress of research activities; develops and maintains records of research activities, preparing periodic and ad hoc reports as required by investigators, administrators and funding agencies
  • Organizes and participates in meetings (e.g., research team, project liaison committee, and dissemination committee meetings).
  • Prepares and processes all forms and accounts related to the grant, including monitoring, expenditures.

Research / Other Tasks

  • Assist in the coordination and day-to-day management of research projects
  • Support participant recruitment, screening, consenting and retention (including 2

    SLGBTQ+ communities and cancer survivors) including booking appointments with participants
  • Conduct community-based recruitment and outreach activities to engage diverse populations
  • Conduct data collection activities (e.g., interviews, surveys, focus groups), including topics related to sexual health
  • Communicate with research participants in a respectful, inclusive, and professional manner, including discussions on sensitive topics such as sexual health
  • Contribute to data entry, cleaning, and preliminary analysis
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and community partners
  • Support the development and implementation of research materials related to sexual health
  • Assists in the recruitment, selection, training, and orientation of staff in qualitative and quantitative data collection methods.
