This lab technician role involves a 35-hour workweek, requiring a BSc in Microbiology. Candidates must have hands-on experience in molecular biology and the ability to adapt to various fieldwork conditions. Essential skills include DNA sequencing, analysis using command-line tools, and proficiency in R and Python.
Key Responsibilities:
• Execute DNA extraction for environmental sample analysis
• Prepare libraries for metagenomic DNA sequencing
• Conduct lab-based metagenomic sequencing operations
• Curate Latin names for newly identified organisms
• Analyze microbial communities through sequence classification
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or a related field
• Proven experience in molecular biology
• Command-line experience (Linux and Windows)
• Field sampling capability under challenging conditions
• Strong attention to detail and record-keeping
