The Institutional Safety Officer is responsible for protecting patients and staff within mental health facilities, actively responding to high-stress situations. You will work cooperatively with healthcare professionals to enforce safety regulations and support education initiatives. Candidates with prior law enforcement or military experience are highly desirable for this challenging and impactful role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Respond effectively to acute violent situations
• Maintain enforcement of the Police Services Act
• Educate on safety practices and compliance
• Collaborate with law enforcement and health professionals
• Secure safe custody of individuals under the Intoxicated Persons Act
Requirements:
• Minimum of 1 year in security or law enforcement
• High School diploma or equivalent qualification
• Class 5 driver’s license is mandatory
• Qualified under the Mental Health Act
• Must pass background and criminal checks
