The IWS seeks to fill multiple full-time Security Guard positions within our Transitional Housing located in St. Andrews, MB
. The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for women and children residing within the Transitional Housing complex following experiences of domestic violence, abuse, or other unsafe living situations.
This is a 24/7 security position with rotating shifts, days, evenings, nights & weekends.

• Monitor the facility, grounds, entrances, exits, and common areas to maintain a safe and secure environment;
• Control and monitor access to the building in accordance with established policies and confidentiality requirements;
• Verify visitors, contractors, and service providers to prevent unauthorized individuals from entering the property;
• Conduct regular security patrols and document observations and concerns;
• Monitor security cameras, alarms, communication systems, and other security equipment;
• Identify and report suspicious activity, property damage, security hazards, and security vulnerabilities;
• Maintain a professional presence within the facility and respond appropriately to resident concerns or security-related situations.

Skills and

Qualifications:

• Valid Security Guard Certification;
• Current First Aid/CPR Certification, or willingness to obtain one;
• Previous experience in Security, Protective Services, Law Enforcement, Emergency Response, or a related field is considered an asset;
• Experience working with vulnerable populations is considered an asset;
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with residential and support staff;
• Ability to use sound judgement and make appropriate decisions in emergency situations;
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
• Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
• Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
• Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
