Join the Independent Living with Supports team as a Youth Housing Mentor. This meaningful role focuses on providing hands-on support to young adults in their journey towards independence.
As a Housing Mentor, you will assist youth ages 18–21 in developing life skills necessary for successful independent living. Your responsibilities include providing support in household management, budgeting, and access to cultural connections. Empower young individuals as they navigate housing stability while respecting their inherent cultural backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop trusting relationships with youth to create a supportive environment
• Teach practical skills such as cooking and time management
• Assist in securing and maintaining housing options
• Support young adults in understanding their tenancy rights
• Advocate for participants with community resources
Requirements:
• Educational background in Child & Youth Care or related fields
• Knowledge of systemic barriers and Indigenous cultural safety
• Experience with housing instability and mental health issues
• Strong skills in conflict resolution and crisis de-escalation
• Availability for flexible scheduling, including evenings
