Independent Living Mentor Youth

Position: Independent Living Mentor for Youth
Support youth towards independence with The Link as a Housing Mentor. This position focuses on cultural connection, life skills, and housing stability for 18–21 year-olds transitioning to independent living.

The Link seeks a dedicated Housing Mentor to empower youth and young adults navigating independent living. With a focus on relationship-building and culturally grounded support, you will guide participants in enhancing their life skills and maintaining housing stability. This role promotes reconnection with culture and community to uplift identity while addressing important challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build trusting, consistent relationships with youth

• Assist with budgeting, grocery shopping, and meal prep

• Help youth secure and maintain stable housing

• Support access to community resources and services

• Collaborate within the Skills4

Life continuum of care

Requirements:

• Education in Child & Youth Care or related fields

• Experience supporting youth with housing instability

• Knowledge of Indigenous cultural safety practices

• Strong crisis de-escalation and conflict resolution skills

• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
