THE ROLEIf you are passionate about all aspects of mental performance and want to make a true difference in people’s lives, this career as a Mental Performance Specialist supporting the members of the Canadian Armed Forces might be for you.
As a Mental Performance Specialist with CFMWS, you will deliver the mental performance program to members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), including but not limited to student pilots, air crew, and pilot and air crew instructors. You will provide individual and group performance coaching to enhance and/or sustain their high levels of performance, help them perform consistently under considerable stress and adversity, and assist with other targeted strategies for optimizing mental performance.
The Mental Performance Specialist plays an integral role in supporting the performance, health and well‑being of Canadian Armed Forces members. You will help ensure they are mentally and physically ready to sustain the rigours of operations and live healthy balanced lives.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED- Master’s degree in Sport Psychology, Kinesiology, Health Studies or a related field
- Current Canadian Sport Psychology Association (CSPA) Professional Member
- Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification
- Planning, organizing, researching, creating and developing mental training programs
- Delivering mental training programs
- Planning and conducting mental training courses, workshops, presentations and specialized clinics
- Determining the effectiveness and efficiency of delivered mental performance training
- Developing reports
- Presenting reports and findings
- Applying policies, procedures and regulations
- Communication skills
- Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership
- English Essential / Bilingual (English and French) – an asset
