Position Summary
The incumbent will provide Sandy Bay Child & Family Services Inc. with preventative programming to ensure the well‑being of youth and their families in the community. The incumbent will work as a liaison between Sandy Bay Child and Family Services Inc. and the community resources to arrive at program cooperation, or program development, through public speaking, meetings, workshops and/or individual contacts.
SomeDuties include
- Maintains monthly prevention planning calendar of scheduled activities, contact with assigned youth with Prevention Supervisor assistance.
- Organizes, facilitates and coordinates community functions, including but not limited to meetings, workshops and ensuring facilities and required materials are in place.
- Maintains accurate documentation of community meetings, workshops, programs.
- Track ongoing prevention projects for Prevention Supervisor and report on those projects after completion.
- Book venues, coordinate activities, refreshments in conjunction of monthly prevention calendar.
- Must have strong computer skills, strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and office equipment.
- Must be able to work within a set budget (monthly calendar activities).
- Evaluates assessment process to ensure that it is effective in identifying prevention needs and meet community expectations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must have a Social Services Diploma or a Child and Youth Care Diploma or equivalent from a recognized Post-Secondary Institute.
- Must have a minimum of Grade 12 Diploma from a recognized Educational Institute.
- Minimum of 2 years of direct work experience working with Child Services.
- Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
- Excellent work record/history.
- Must have a valid Manitoba Drivers License, access to a vehicle and willingness to travel.
- Must pass a Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, and Child Abuse Registry Check.
- Knowledge and respect of First Nations traditional culture and traditional philosophy.
- Ability to speak and/or understand the Ojibway language would be an asset.
