This casual role focuses on direct outreach to community members, particularly during extreme weather conditions. You will transport individuals to emergency shelter, distribute resources, and conduct wellness checks. As part of the Van Outreach program, your work is vital in offering support to marginalized clients and fostering a judgment-free environment that promotes self-worth and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure immediate needs with food, shelter, and hygiene supplies
• Assist community members in crisis planning and problem-solving
• Drive and operate the outreach van around Winnipeg
• Respond to emergencies and document incidents accurately
• Monitor the health and safety of clients during outreach
Requirements:
• Experience in human services, preferably with vulnerable populations
• Ability to apply harm reduction and housing-first principles
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
