Join Main Street Project as a Support Worker, aiding community members in a low-barrier emergency shelter setting. Emphasize harm reduction and participant-centered care in your role, open 365 days.
In this casual position, you will work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team, providing support that respects the dignity of all community members. Your responsibilities will include helping individuals address immediate needs while promoting pathways to permanent housing, using knowledge of Indigenous culture and relevant service practices.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate access to essential services and resources
• Uphold community member rights and shelter conduct
• Prepare food and maintain cleanliness in the shelter area
• Monitor safety and intervene during critical incidents
• Advocate for community members to access needed services
Requirements:
• Experience in emergency shelters or outreach is a plus
• Familiarity with harm-reduction principles
• Strong communication and crisis management skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and databases
• Clear criminal record check required
