Emergency Shelter Support Team Member

Join Siloam Mission's team as an Emergency Shelter Support Staff working overnight. This critical role offers support with a focus on safety and trauma-informed practices in Winnipeg.

As part of an essential team, you will provide direct support for community members accessing emergency shelter services during twelve-hour shifts. This position requires strong interpersonal skills to help marginalized populations with their needs while ensuring a safe environment. You will also participate in ongoing training to enhance your skills in mental health and addiction support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support community members in emergency overnight shelters

• Monitor safety measures to ensure personal security

• Document incidents and daily interactions accurately

• Participate in cleaning duties to maintain hygiene

• Engage in mandatory training sessions and program adherence

Requirements:

• Relevant social services diploma or equivalent experience

• Experience in homelessness support preferred

• Understanding of harm reduction frameworks

• Strong communication skills to build trust
