The West Central Women’s Resource Centre (WCWRC) provides services and programming to women, gender-diverse folks, and their families in the West Central neighbourhood of Winnipeg. WCWRC is person-centered and practices empowerment, inclusion, harm reduction, multi-level, and community economic development philosophies to support participants experiencing poverty, homelessness, mental illness, violence, substance use or participating in sex work.

The Community Care Coordinator ’s role is to respond to the impacts of the intersecting crises being faced by many in our community, including the impacts of the toxic drug supply , by providing participant-led, culturally grounded, trauma-informed, and harm reduction oriented supports . The Community Care Coordinator recognizes that recovery and wellness are not linear journeys. Participants may be at different stages of readiness regarding substance use, treatment, housing, healthcare, family reunification, and healing.

Th is role will walk alongside participants wherever they are in that journey—building trusting relationships, reducing harm, supporting informed decision-making, and creating pathways to health and wellness . Working in collaboration with other Drop-in staff they will provide supports and connections to community resources and are responsible for creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for the visitors of the centre and building trusting relationship with our participants.

Salary Range: $27-30/hour ( includ ing vacation pay, benefits and RRSP )

Time requirement: 37.5 hours/week

• Promote harm reduction as a participant-centered approach that prioritizes dignity, safety, and informed choice.
• Provide educationregardingsafer substance use practices and overdose prevention.
• Distribute naloxone kits and provide naloxone training to participants, families, and community members.
• Provide educationregardingsafer consumption supplies and available harm reduction resources.
• Assist participants in developing individualized overdose prevention and safety plans.
• Monitor emerging trends related to the toxic drug supply and communicate relevant information to theWCWRCteam.
• Participate indrug poisoning andoverdose responsesasrequiredwhile working collaboratively with the Drop-In Team and emergency responders.
• Support participants followingdrug poisoning oroverdose events through debriefing, emotional support, and connection toadditionalservices.
• Contribute to creating a welcoming, non-judgmental environment where participants feel safe discussing substance use and related concerns.

Treatment Navigation

• When participantsidentifythey are ready for treatment, support them to accessappropriate avenuesfor treatment includingwithdrawalmanagementservices, detox programs, Rapid Access to Addictions Medicine (RAAM) Clinics, and residential treatment program
• Provide educationregardingavailable treatment options.
• Assist participants in accessing Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) where appropriate.
• Provide accompaniment to medical appointments when appropriate.
