The Van Outreach Support Worker plays a vital role in our 24/7 outreach program at Main Street Project. This position requires working nights and provides a unique opportunity to assist community members facing homelessness, mental health issues, and addiction. You will offer immediate support, resources, and transportation to those in need, ensuring their safety and well-being during extreme weather.
Key Responsibilities:
• Address immediate needs for food, clothing, and shelter
• Drive outreach vans and provide emergency transport
• Respond to crises with intervention and documentation
• Conduct follow-ups with individuals living in encampments
• Maintain accurate digital records of outreach efforts
Requirements:
• Experience in human services, ideally with vulnerable populations
• Valid Class 5 driver's licence
• Knowledge of harm reduction and housing-first approaches
• CPR and First Aid certifications
• Strong communication skills with diverse populations
