Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

End date: Approx. August 31, 2027

Salary: $28.623 - $30.558 per hour

Union: CUPE

Anticipated Shift: Primarily days; evenings and weekends as needed

Position Summary:

The InSight Mentor provides intensive support to women 18+ who have used substances during pregnancy and are currently pregnant or have given birth within the last 12 months and who are not well connected to community services. The role includes advocacy, outreach, harm-reduction support, connecting clients to community services, and supporting them in developing collaborative goals to engage in safety and harm reduction.

The mentor will collaborate with families, providers, and agencies, maintain accurate EMR documentation, support data collection, attend interagency committees, and contribute to quality improvement and teamwork activities.

Education:
  • Minimum Grade 12 equivalency; post-secondary certificate or degree preferred in related field
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered
Experience:
  • Minimum two years community experience working with women, preferably in the area of substance use and/or pregnancy.
  • Knowledge of addictions, harm reduction, FASD, and issues related to alcohol use in pregnancy.
  • Experience working with diverse cultures, economic backgrounds, and individuals with complex needs.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources, community development principles, and harm-reduction strategies.
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team.
  • EMR and MS Office experience an asset.
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Subject to a Police Records Check (including vulnerable persons).
