Crisis Counselor, Mental Health
• Provide clinical services to individuals under 18 years of age experiencing mental health or psychosocial crisis
• Provide immediate crisis response for children and youth and support their families, care providers, and professional supports
• Provide timely consultation to service providers delivering treatment resources to children and youth
• Deliver direct, time-limited interventions to support community stabilization
• Work with youth and communities to fill service gaps, reduce barriers, and create pathways to existing services
• Connect youth to existing resource supports close to home using trauma-informed and equity-informed perspectives
• Provide brief treatment in collaboration with community partnerships
• Support low-barrier service delivery and smooth transitions to services
• Foster a team environment that supports Indigenous clients and families
• Identify and develop improved pathways to service for Indigenous clients
• Collaborate with the Crisis Response Services clinical team under the general direction of the Manager, Child and Youth Treatment Services
Requirements
- Four years related community experience; child and adolescent mental health experience preferred
- BN or RPN required
- Knowledge of Crisis Intervention Theory
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
- Suicide Assessment and Intervention Training
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle preferred
- Maintain and provide proof of active registration with the appropriate registering body
- Effective crisis intervention skills
- Expertise in mental health
- Experience working within brief treatment models preferred
- Experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations
- Experience utilizing virtual models to care considered an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective networking and agency relations skills
- Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search
- Current Child Abuse Registry Check
- Current Adult Abuse Registry Check
- Preference given to bilingual French/English candidates
