Manager, Front-End Engineering
Jobber helps small home‑service businesses—plumbers, painters, landscapers—deliver their services through streamlined technology. The Company’s web strategy is headed by the Web Strategy & Operations (WSO) team, which owns the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of  The Manager, Front‑End Engineering leads the web development team, partnering with the Website Product Owner to deliver high‑quality, scalable web experiences.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop the front‑end engineering team, holding regular 1:1s, setting clear goals, and providing coaching and constructive feedback.

Build a world‑class team by establishing standards for high‑quality, scalable, and maintainable code and creating an environment where people can deliver against near‑term goals.

Champion AI‑enabled development, identify, evaluate, and roll out AI tools, encouraging experimentation across code generation, review, documentation, testing, and deployment.

Mentor and coach each team member, empowering their growth through mentorship, stretch opportunities, and honest feedback.

Be a full‑stack technical authority with deep knowledge of front‑end systems (Word Press, React/Next.js, Type Script, Sanity CMS) and strong back‑end foundations.

Lead by example—plan projects, contribute code, and set the technical bar for quality, performance, and maintainability across Jobber’s web properties.

Own and drive the platform migration from Word Press to a headless Sanity CMS, managing an external development agency and ensuring high‑standard delivery.

Build engineering processes and documentation that enable reliable delivery and reduce friction over time.

Act as the technical partner to the Website Product Owner, translating priorities into technical plans, estimating effort, and flagging risks early.

Bridge design and engineering, involving web designers early in technical decisions and ensuring implementation aligns with design intent.

Protect team capacity and technical health, surfacing trade‑offs clearly and proposing paths forward when technical debt slows delivery.

Collaborate across the organization with Marketing, IT, and Product Engineering to execute web initiatives.

Qualifications

Proven front‑end engineering experience with proficiency in React, Next.js, and Type Script.

Hands‑on Word Press experience—including theme and plugin architecture, custom development, and CMS workflows.

Experience with Sanity CMS or a comparable headless CMS.

Experience building client‑side and feature‑flag experiments.

Strong back‑end foundations and systems knowledge to make sound architectural decisions.

Experience managing or directing external development agencies or vendors, including quality review and standards setting.

Demonstrated leadership of an engineering team, coaching engineers at various career stages, and driving growth.

Project management fluency—able to provide reliable effort estimates, identify dependencies, and flag delivery risk early.

Experience introducing and scaling AI tooling within a team—tool evaluation, prompt engineering best practices, responsible adoption.

Comfort leading in an agile environment and adapting others to agile practices.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders and marketing leadership.

Collaborative mindset—measuring success by how well the team and its partners can do their work.

Location
Open to candidates based in one of Jobber’s hub cities:
Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, or Kitchener‑Waterloo.

Compensation
Minimum annual salary: $151,200
Midpoint: $177,900
Maximum: $204,500

Salary reflects experience, skills, and the complexity of the role. Base salary is one component of a total compensation package that includes equity rewards, annual health and wellness stipends, retirement savings matching, and an extended health package with fully paid premiums for body and mind.
