Job Description
Silvus Technologies is seeking a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join our Software Engineering team. The successful individual will participate in the development of Silvus’ MANET radios and advanced research projects, working on all aspects of the system including device drivers, networking functions and services, encryption, and security features. This role is based at Silvus Technologies’ headquarters in West Los Angeles, CA, on a hybrid schedule with a minimum of three days onsite per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays).

The following is a list of essential job functions of the position. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time at its discretion.

Role and Responsibilities

Lead the architectural design and development of highly efficient low‑latency embedded firmware on ARM‑based SoCs (e.g., Ultra Scale+), and optimize Linux‑based networking stacks for wireless applications.

Implement the software portion of MAC (Medium Access Control) and mobile ad‑hoc networking routing protocols.

Develop network management software and web interface.

Implement different security protocols and encryption algorithms.

Implement audio streaming and push‑to‑talk voice applications.

Analyze and improve product security and robustness to meet regulatory requirements such as NIST FIPS 140‑3 and NIAP Common Criteria.

Develop testing software for product performance and reliability testing.

Develop and maintain device driver and board support package for ARM and RISC‑V based systems.

Customize Linux systems and create scripts.

Perform other related duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant engineering fields.

8+ years of relevant embedded system software development experience.

Hands‑on and lead expertise designing and developing embedded firmware using embedded Linux on ARM processors for networking, signal processing, and/or wireless applications.

Expertise in C programming and experience in Linux kernel driver development.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug test.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of and experience with different security protocols and encryption algorithms such as CNSA algorithms.

Experience with socket programming and various Internet/Ethernet protocols.

Understanding of MAC and networking layer of a communication system.

Experience in AMD Ultra Scale+ MPSoC and Microchip Polarfire SoC BSP support package development.

Deep understanding of Internet Protocol Security (IPsec), network protocols, data authentication and encryption.

Linux interrupt service routine development.
