Aquatics Manager
The RadyJCC (RJCC) is seeking an outgoing, customer-focused, and experienced Aquatics Manager to join our senior management team. This is a leadership role responsible for overseeing all aquatics programs and operations at the RadyJCC, ensuring a safe, engaging, and high-quality experience for our members and participants.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, strong leadership, and a proven ability to motivate staff and members alike. This individual will set the tone of excellence within the aquatics department while exceeding expectations in providing superior customer service.
Position SummaryThe Aquatics Manager leads a dynamic team of lifeguards and swim instructors, oversees program planning, scheduling, and operations for a busy fitness and recreation facility with over 2,600 membership units of varying sizes. This role represents the aquatics department on the RadyJCC senior management team, contributing to facility-wide initiatives, member engagement, and organizational success.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of lifeguards, swim instructors, and aquatic staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation
- Plan, schedule, and oversee swim lessons and aquatics programming for all ages and skill levels
- Maintain high standards for safety, customer service, and program delivery in compliance with provincial and national regulations
- Develop, implement, and evaluate innovative aquatics programs that meet the needs of a diverse membership
- Collaborate with senior management and other departments to support facility-wide initiatives and community events
- Ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness, and readiness of all aquatic facilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for members and staff within the aquatics department, providing guidance, support, and leadership
- Assist in budgeting, reporting, and tracking departmental metrics to inform decision-making
- Professional, approachable, and highly organized with a strong customer service orientation
- Minimum 3 years of management experience in aquatics or relatedfields
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to motivate and inspirestaff
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with a multi-disciplinary team and diverse clientele
- Holds professional certifications, including (or equivalent):
- Lifesaving Society Lifeguard Instructor
- Lifesaving and/or Red Cross First Aid Instructor
- Water Safety Instructor Trainer
- National Lifeguard Instructor&Examiner
- Additional aquatics certifications are anasset
- Fast learner, adaptable, and capable of thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
