SUMMARY

– Custom Specialist (Night)

Shift: Night Shift;
Tuesday to Saturday (17:00 – 02:00)

The TransX Group of Companies has an exciting opportunity for a Customs Specialist to join our Operations - Truckload Department at our Winnipeg facility.

The Custom Specialist role is directly accountable for driver success and is responsible for ensuring our operational system is accurate and updated live. Acting as a critical support position, your main goal is to ensure our drivers have everything they need for a successful trip. This position focuses on operational excellence, maintaining on-time customer service, and keeping day-to-day fleet processes running smoothly.

KEY ACTIVITIES Live Operational System Management
  • Update driver PTAs, order ETAs, and maintain live system status for starts and completes.
  • Dispatch and confirm all load assignments to drivers.
  • Process cross‑border shipments for customs clearance.
  • Enter service alerts immediately for all operational disruptions.
  • Update the customer (Costco) TMS site when necessary.
  • Maintain continuous status checks with teammates on daily tasks, proactively requesting and providing assistance as needed.
Communication and Issue Resolution
  • Coordinate a seamless flow of information between drivers, operations, and support departments (including Safety, Shop, and Fuel).
  • Resolve live operational issues with urgency to ensure driver success on the road.
  • Communicate a comprehensive night pass‑off report to day staff to ensure operational continuity.
  • Elevate unresolved live issues or critical problems to the Night Supervisor and/or area supervisor.
  • Implement action plans when fleet metrics underperform, which may include recommending driver discipline to meet KPIs.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE Education & Experience
  • Post‑secondary education is preferred, ideally in Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
  • Logistics or Supply Chain experience is considered a strong asset.
Core Skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of multi‑tasking with a keen, proven ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Able to accurately identify and proactively resolve live operational problems.
  • Solid knowledge of the trucking industry and its associated rules and regulations (e.g., Hours of Service regulations).
  • Computer literate and proficient with industry‑related systems.
