Position: CATERING CAPTAIN

Winona State University – 215 Kryzsko Commons, Winona, MN 55987 (online applications only) - Schedule:
Full-time, hours and days may vary based on events. Open availability preferred. - Pay: $17.00 – $18.00 per hour
Coordinates catering staff schedules to ensure all functions are delivered, served, and cleared in a timely fashion. Prep and serve food at scheduled functions under the supervision of the Catering Director. May drive a truck to deliver food and beverages to catered functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Determine workload requirements from catering orders.
- Meet with function group leaders to discuss setup arrangements; address last‑minute changes and resolve problems.
- Interact with customers and resolve complaints in a service‑oriented manner.
- Demonstrate a complete understanding of menu items.
- Instruct staff on work expectations for catered functions.
- Help staff set up rooms to desired specifications.
- Assemble and deliver food and supplies to scheduled locations.
- Serve food and beverages to guests.
- Return food, beverages, serving equipment, and utensils to the catering facility.
- Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures; follow HACCP standards.
- Maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies, and utensils.
- Ensure proper food preparation by following approved recipes and production standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- A valid driver’s license; may be required.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid food handler’s permit and/or alcohol server’s permit where required by state law.

Because this position requires you to perform services in an educational facility, there may be periods when the Company does not require you to perform work (such as winter and summer breaks when food service needs decline or cease). Any such periods during which you do not perform work on the Company’s behalf may be unpaid and deemed a temporary layoff.
However, depending on business needs, you may be required to work year‑round, potentially at a different location during break periods.
