Brief Description The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for electrical installation of equipment in a manufacturing setting. The technician may direct contractors who install equipment, build and install control boxes on new or refurbished equipment, and help maintenance teams solve production maintenance related issues. The technician routinely performs preventative maintenance on all equipment and components to ensure the continued safe, efficient, and effective operations of equipment used in the facility.
The position also assists with maintaining parts inventory, organizing and maintaining the electrical maintenance shop, inspecting and diagnosing malfunctions and breakdowns, and performing repairs. The technician must take a proactive approach to preventative maintenance to improve equipment reliability.
Work Schedule 1st shift 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. M-F with overtime as required including weekends. Employees are assigned to an A/B rotating schedule. Travel by personal vehicle or company vehicle to other buildings in the Winona area required. Must have a clean driving record. MVR check required. Travel pay and per diem included for occasional travel to other U.S. facilities.
Responsibilities- Reads and interprets blueprints, electrical code specifications, and schematics to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment.
- Installs, tests, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring, control devices, and equipment.
- Diagnoses, determines cause, and repairs malfunctioning equipment using test equipment.
- Performs required electrical and/or mechanical repairs.
- Performs preventative maintenance through inspection of electrical systems, equipment, and components.
- Operates forklift and scissor lift as needed.
- Participates in training, retraining, and continual improvement processes.
- Has working knowledge of NEC and wiring methods.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment in a manufacturing facility.
- Ability to follow equipment manuals and drawings to adjust, align, replace, or repair machinery and keep records such as work orders and maintenance reports.
- PLC and electrical skills a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with automation programming software helpful.
- Microsoft Office.
- Effective communication with other departments.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Work independently, solve problems, and make decisions with little direction.
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
- Positive attitude, dependable, flexible, excellent attendance.
- Attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Read, write, and speak English.
- Travel within Winona for electrical project work at other facilities.
Education And Experience
- Two-year technical degree in industrial maintenance or related field OR a combination of education and experience.
- Three years of experience as an Electrical Maintenance Technician preferred.
- Plastic extrusion experience helpful; training is provided.
- Forklift and scissor lift maintenance and driving experience preferred.
- Electrical knowledge.
Regularly:
Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use hands to manipulate tools; operate safety equipment such as glasses, shoes, respirators, and gloves; exposure to moving mechanical parts.
Frequently:
Lift and/or move up to 60 pounds; work in temperature extremes, wet and/or humid conditions, with dust, fumes, airborne particles.
Occasionally:
Sit; handle up to 250 pounds with mechanical equipment; expose to noise levels above OSHA action level requiring hearing protection; work at elevated heights of approximately 30 feet.
Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
