Overview

The Flexographic Press Operator is responsible for producing printed orders efficiently while minimizing waste. Responsibilities include setting up the press, installing paper, cylinders, perf wheels/blades, and ink, and making speed, tension, ink, and viscosity adjustments to meet production and customer specifications. (M-F 8am–5pm).

Location:

Essex Junction, VT. Salary: $23.50–$34.00 per hour.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sets up and prints label jobs on a printing press with minimal waste in a specific priority order determined by the Press Supervisor.
  • Completes daily score sheets by recording the amount and type of work performed.
  • Cleans printing press at the end of each shift.
  • Maintains press and other equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent; may include specialized classes beyond high school.
  • Proficient understanding of principles in one or more functions; typically 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and create simple correspondence and memos.
  • Knowledge of mechanics and hazard communication standards and material safety data sheets.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proper use of safety gear, including ear protection, glasses, back‑support belt, and safety shoes as required or recommended.
  • Performs single‑function tasks that tend to be of moderate size and scope.
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
  • Frequent exposure to a manufacturing environment with unpleasant or hazardous conditions including dust, dirt, high noise levels, chemicals, etc. (21%–50% of work time).
  • Constantly required to walk, stand, grasp, reach, push/pull, bend, stoop, twist, and use manual dexterity for prolonged periods.
  • Regularly required to hear, speak, and use color vision.
  • Regularly required to carry and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Work with rotating equipment, hazardous equipment, and safety‑sensitive equipment.
  • Must be able to visually inspect labels and materials for accuracy.
  • Requires use of PPE and tolerance for a manufacturing environment.
