As the Accounts Assistant you will have previous general accounting experience. The role involves various general ledger tasks including ledger reconciliations and ownership of correct allocation cost centres. You will also handle bank reconciliations, foreign exchange exposure and ad hoc tasks, and be responsible for AP and AR tasks. Key is the ability to improve processes to reduce the time taken on transactions.
Whatyou will be doing:
General Ledger
- Process all approved journals in a timely manner.
- Process AR, AP, Cash and Fixed Asset documents and transactions accurately and on a timely basis.
- Regularly review transactional reporting for mis‑postings and complete correcting journals.
- Ensure periodic costs are accurate, well understood and aligned to budget and variance analysis.
- Assist with the monthly financial and reporting packs as required.
- Prepare National Statistic Questionnaires.
- Reconciliation of cash book and bank accounts.
- Posting non‑AR/AP bank entries.
- Set up manual payments.
- Process all AP transactions.
- Deal with supplier queries, taking/receiving purchase ledger calls.
- Process AR (sales ledger) transactions.
- Support in all month‑end tasks.
- Prepare confirmation of balances.
- Balance sheet reconciliations.
- Complete monthly audit checks as requested by RRPS.
- Corporation Tax pack.
- Year‑end audit work.
- You will be studying towards an AAT qualification, be qualified in AAT, or be qualified by experience.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to take on a wide range of tasks, enthusiastic person with strong interpersonal skills, proactive in problem solving, and able to effectively manage your time.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of VLOOKUPs, IF statements and pivot tables would be beneficial. On‑the‑job training will be provided for ERP system.
- Must be highly numerate. Must be a competent writer of business letters and emails.
