Purpose of the Role

The Plant & Transport Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational efficiency, safety, regulatory compliance, and profitability of plant & transportation activities within an assigned geographic area. This role involves managing resources, coordinating logistics, and ensuring that operations align with company policies and industry regulations. The role is vital for ensuring that plant & transport operations run smoothly, efficiently, and safely while meeting the company's goals and objectives.

You will be based in our Winsford, Cheshire location with travel to operations as and when required.

Main Responsibilities

The Plant & Transport Manager will oversee multiple sites and its equipment and implement the carbon strategy, including recommending investments, divestments, and a fleet replacement plan. You will improve safety, reduce emissions, analyse driver behaviour, review fuel consumption and idle times, and intervene with Driver & Operator training.

You will develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and regulatory agencies, prepare and present reports on operational performance, and develop the plant & transport policies and procedures.

You will oversee safety and environmental policies, transport regulatory standards, manage budgets, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and lead a team of plant & transport personnel, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety.

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role you will hold a Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (TM CPC) and an IOSH Managing Safety with a FORS Advanced Practitioner qualification. You should have experience in a similar role with a strong understanding of logistics, supply chain management, and safety regulations.

  • A salary of circa £50,000 per annum plus a company car or £570 monthly allowance.
