Entry rate approx. $35.83‑42.66/hr; annual pay $74,535‑$88,732 with 3‑5 years seniority

Job type: full‑time, 40 hrs/week. Shift may be one of three 8‑hour shifts. Mechanical shops operate 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.

Travel: minimal. Training: company‑paid on‑site, on‑the‑job.

• Testing, inspecting, and repairing electrical components of locomotive systems and shop machinery.
• Maintaining and repairing locomotive alternators, generators, motors, AC/DC power control systems, electrical cabinets, lighting, batteries, and wiring.
• Inspecting, adjusting, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical components of shop equipment (drop tables, welding, mechanical and electromagnetic equipment) and performing preventative maintenance.
• Working in a safety‑sensitive environment with diverse and extreme weather conditions, uneven surfaces, loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.

Safety is a core value. Employees must adhere to safety rules, policies, and federal/state regulations. PPE may be required, and employees must respond to safety concerns and emergencies.

Relocation assistance is not available. Journeyman probation: 60 days;
Apprentice probation: 120 days.

• Can work in the US without BNSF assistance with employment authorization (e.g., H‑1B, STEM OPT/CPT, TN).
• At least 18 years of age.

• Can lift and carry up to 50 lbs without assistance.
• Can visually distinguish colors.
• Can discriminate between verbal and non‑verbal signals.
• Can use hand tools.
• Can climb ladders and access equipment.
• Can bend, walk, stand, sit and work at heights, including on top of a locomotive.

• 4 years of practical electrical work experience.

Membership required with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Union dues per agreement.
