Job Summary

Join a team that makes a difference! The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is hiring a Building Maintenance Specialist at the Arizona State Prison Complex – Winslow. This is a hands‑on role for someone skilled in general maintenance, covering repairs for plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and kitchen equipment. You’ll help keep our facilities running smoothly by planning and completing projects, supervising an inmate work crew, and ensuring all equipment and tools are in top condition.

Job Duties
  • Schedule and plan maintenance‑related projects, including pricing, material list, equipment, and needs
  • Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks as required and scheduled
  • Complete related documentation as required by policy and directed by supervisor
  • Maintain office equipment, computers, and internet research and complete documents
  • Conduct inspections and maintain tools and equipment to ensure proper working order and accountability
  • Supervise and evaluate inmate workers’ performance
  • Attend staff meetings and training as required
  • Perform other duties appropriate to the assignment
  • Drive on State business
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of
  • Structural issues regarding building and utility service systems, including blueprints, safety practices, and codes
  • Trades such as electrical, electronic, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, general facility maintenance, preventive maintenance, etc.
  • Budgeting to include estimating costs and ordering materials
  • Common and specialized tools for performing duties
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and national and local building codes/regulations

Pre‑Employment Requirements Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation, drug test, and a medical/physical examination.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class‑appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended.

Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R).

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
