As a Fostercare and Kinship Specialist, you will have the opportunity to complete assessment home studies and provide courtesy supervision for DCS and out‑of‑state referred families, as well as license and certify families as needed in and around your assigned counties. You will provide assessment and supportive services to children and families served by the Department of Child Safety.

  • Position requires travel to support families in Apache, Coconino, and Navajo counties. Mileage reimbursement provided.
  • Scheduled up to 25 hours a week with potential for more hours depending on travel availability.
  • Your home is considered your office when not on the road.
  • Candidates can live in or around any of the listed counties.

Pay range: $19.00 / hour – $23.25 / hour. This is an hourly non‑exempt position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist families with completing paperwork for home study processes.
  • Write comprehensive studies evaluating suitability for kinship placement, foster care licensure, adoption, and guardianship.
  • Monitor homes to ensure licensing standards, state laws, and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Maintain timely and accurate client records in compliance with AzCA and governmental requirements.
  • Assist or be responsible for training adoptive, foster care, or kinship families.
  • Assess strengths and needs of kinship families, develop goals and supports with resources.
  • Assist with writing recruitment plans and participating in recruitment activities.
  • Assist in coordinating information sharing for adoption matching procedures.
  • Conduct home visits and in‑home courtesy supervision as needed.
  • Facilitate support groups and/or orientation sessions.
  • Prepare summaries for reporting requirements.
Minimum Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of related experience. (Pay range differs for non‑degree holders.)
  • Experience in Social Work, Psychology, or Human Services fields (e.g., group home, shelter care, behavioral health) working with children, families, or adults.
  • Relevant degree areas:
    Child/Family/Human Development, Community Organization/Advocacy, Counseling, Early Childhood Education/Studies, Family Studies, Human Services, Psychology, Public Health, Social Work. Criminal Justice degrees with two years of related work experience are eligible.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a valid Arizona driver’s license and be insurable under the agency’s automobile policy.
  • Must provide own transportation for business‑related purposes.
  • Must provide DPS fingerprint clearance.
  • Must meet training and agency compliance requirements.
  • Must be able to perform safely the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
