Summary:

Esposito Construction has major sitework projects underway throughout New Jersey, and we’re looking for an experienced working Dirt Foreman to ensure optimum productivity and construction compliance. Must have hands‑on experience with excavation, grading, and overall site preparation for underground utility projects. If you are physically able to work on your feet 40+ hours a week and love working outdoors, this is the job for you.

  Flexible, experience-based $35–45 DOE

• Lead a crew in excavation, grading, back filling, and site preparation for underground utilities and roadwork.
• Ensure dirt work operations are executed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and directives from the Project Manager.
• Manage all day‑to‑day activities on site, including manpower, equipment, and materials.
• Understand and maintain the project production schedule.
• Plan daily work based on the project’s four‑week schedule and execute tasks efficiently.
• Perform and train essential job functions for crew members, including grading, trenching, and compaction.
• Identify, report, and correct hazards to maintain a safe jobsite.

• Effective communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and grading plans.
• Proficiency in construction math, slope calculations, and elevations.
• Knowledge of soil types, compaction requirements, and optimum moisture content.
• Experience with safe excavation and trenching practices, PSCC and OSHA compliance.
• Hands‑on ability to operate and direct use of heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders, etc.).
• Understanding of production rates and how to achieve efficient dirt operations.
