Forsyth County Public Health is seeking an energetic and motivated individual for an Office Assistant position. The role involves registering patients, assisting with front‑office tasks, and providing administrative support in all clinic areas. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, customer‑relation competency, and the ability to work in a stressful environment are essential. Spanish/English speaking skills are preferred.

Work Hours

Rotating schedule:
Mon‑Wed 8:00 am‑5:00 pm, Thu 8:00 am‑8:00 pm / 8:00 am‑5:00 pm, Fri 8:00 am‑1:00 pm / 8:00 am‑5:00 pm.

  • General knowledge of and ability to use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • General knowledge of office accounting and record keeping procedures
  • Ability to use a variety of office equipment
  • Ability to type with accuracy

  • Ability to screen communications based on predetermined guidelines to respond or route to proper destination
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and by telephone
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees
Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED, plus at least one year of office/clerical experience. Higher education may substitute for part of experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Register patients who receive clinical services at Forsyth County Department of Public Health
  • Create patient encounters and/or make appointments
  • Communicate with customers and clinical staff respectfully and professionally
  • Answer questions and provide explanations
  • Answer and direct telephone calls, follow up with voicemail messaging
  • Mail patient statements and/or invoices
  • Post payments (cash, checks or money orders) and balance daily money tills; create end‑of‑day reports
  • Perform related work as required
