Dream. Design. Deliver.
For over 40 years, KC's Improvement & Construction Co., Inc. has helped Piedmont Triad families transform the homes they love. We're a family-owned design-build remodeling company — kitchens, bathrooms, additions, aging-in-place renovations, and select commercial work — with an A+ BBB rating, NARI membership, and a reputation built one project at a time since 1984.
We're looking for a Project Manager who can take a project from approved contract to final walkthrough — and make our clients feel taken care of every step of the way.
What You'll Do:- Own project execution from pre-construction handoff through punch list and closeout
- Schedule, coordinate, and hold accountable our trusted subcontractor partners across all trades
- Manage project budgets, change orders, and selections in Job Tread, our project management platform
- Communicate proactively with homeowners — setting expectations, delivering updates, and having the honest conversations (timelines, budgets, surprises behind the drywall) that build trust
- Conduct site visits and quality inspections throughout active projects
- Collaborate with our estimating and office teams to keep budgets accurate and documents current
- Protect the client experience in occupied homes: clean sites, clear communication, respectful crews
- 3+ years of residential
** remodeling
* * project management experience (renovation of occupied homes — not just new construction) - Proven ability to coordinate and manage subcontractors across multiple simultaneous projects
- Working knowledge of construction project management software (Job Tread experience is a major plus; Buildertrend, CoConstruct, or similar also welcome)
- Strong understanding of residential building codes, permitting, and inspection processes in North Carolina
- Excellent client-facing communication skills — you're comfortable being the face of the project
- Detailed, organized, and calm under pressure
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- CAPS (Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist) certification or interest in earning it
- NARI involvement or certifications
- Experience with design-build workflows and selections management
- Competitive salary ($60,000–$75,000 based on experience) plus bonus potential
- Company vehicle provided during work hours
- Paid holidays and PTO
- A small, tight-knit team where your voice matters — no corporate layers
- Four decades of reputation and repeat clients behind every project you run
- The chance to do work you're proud of, for clients who become neighbors and friends
