Reporting to the Head of Cataloging and Metadata Services, the Electronic Resources Librarian manages and supports the entire lifecycle of electronic resources for the Library and Learning Commons including the acquisition, licensing, troubleshooting, and assessment of e-books, electronic journals, DDA plan, and databases. This position will work closely with colleagues to implement and maintain access to electronic resources and be the expert for issues related to access.

The Electronic Resources Librarian collects usage data and creates reports for resource cancellations and/or renewal decisions. In collaboration with colleagues, this position will have a strong role in evaluating and developing workflows, policies, and procedures around electronic resources management.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and select new resources. Participate in initiating trials and negotiating licensing agreements. Maintain license agreements in Alma ILS. Maintain subscriptions and participate in the evaluation for renewal/cancellation.
  • Maintains list of entitlements and ensures reliable access to electronic resources through the library’s Primo VE discovery system and A-Z list.
  • Troubleshoots access problems, analyzes root causes, and resolves issues with vendor, proxy, campus IT department, or ILS as needed.
  • Collect usage statistics and prepare analyses to use in collection assessment and development activities.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to library staff, UNCSA students and faculty on electronic resources discovery and access.
  • Serve on library, campus-wide and UNC-System committees and working groups which may include search and governance.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of current and emerging trends in electronic resources lifecycle management and technological updates pertinent to work, which may include attending webinars, trainings, and other professional development opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned, with possibility of circulation support if needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires the Masters in Library Science (MLS) degree. In specialized libraries, may substitute an advanced degree in the field of specialization (e.g., legal degree for a law library, or a history degree for a special historical collection within the library setting).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Alma/Primo VE and Alma Analytics
  • Evidence of successful participation in collaborative projects/work teams.
  • Working knowledge of MARC and metadata standards.
  • Background or affinity for the arts
