Job Summary

The Assistant Dean supports university enrollment goals by actively recruiting, reviewing, and enrolling students from a designated recruitment territory. The role contributes to a welcoming and enriching campus visitation program by leading information sessions, conducting student interviews, and hosting on‑campus and virtual programs. The position supports campus programming and communication efforts while planning, implementing, and managing a comprehensive plan to enhance undergraduate recruitment.

Responsibilities include travel planning and coordination, undergraduate application review, and project oversight throughout the year.

Essential Functions
  • Communicate the benefits of a Wake Forest University education virtually and through on‑ and off‑campus events by attending presentations at schools, community‑based organizations, college counseling events, online webinars, etc. Represent the Undergraduate Admissions Office on panels and conduct presentations throughout the year.
  • Travel on behalf of the Undergraduate Admissions Office throughout the year. Work collaboratively to develop a territory management plan in assigned geographical regions and in alignment with university enrollment goals. Evaluate effectiveness of travel and adjust for subsequent visits.
  • Serve as the university’s admissions representative and liaison to secondary schools and students. Educate and update high‑school counselors and prospective students concerning the university’s mission, strategic initiatives, and annual updates.
  • Annually analyze the qualifications of over 2,000 prospective students using established admissions standards, guidelines, and criteria. Serve on the admissions committee making subjective evaluations of applicants for admission to the college. Maintain confidentiality concerning sensitive personal and academic information.
  • Conduct informational admissions interviews and convey information about the university to prospective students.
  • Serve as a presenter during daily group admissions information sessions for prospective students and parents (over 25,000 visitors per year).
  • Participate and assist in the coordination of various programs and projects. Update and revise admissions presentations in conjunction with the university’s integrated marketing efforts.
  • Independently manage an annual project or program, as assigned by senior leadership, in support of admissions communications efforts.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • BA/BS with a strong academic record and three or more years of related work experience.
  • Effective communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of budget development and fiscal management.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse constituents.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Capacity to foster teamwork, inclusion, and collegiality in a small office and with other departments.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; must be insurable.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Master’s degree.
  • Knowledge of Slate by Technolutions and Powerfaids.
