Nursing Clinical Faculty‑Adult Health

As a leader in nursing education, the Winston‑Salem State University Division of Nursing is committed to providing diverse populations with a transformative educational experience rooted in the HBCU traditions. The Division offers baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral programs that prepare graduates to lead in assuring health equity for underserved communities, providing compassionate, evidence‑based, culturally responsive care, and educating the next generation of nurses.

Teaching responsibilities include conducting clinical instruction (face‑to‑face and virtual), correlating classroom content to the clinical setting, facilitating student achievement of course objectives, and modeling professionalism for culturally and linguistically diverse populations.

Responsibilities and Duties

Instructional

  • Conduct the clinical component of the course (face‑to‑face and virtual if applicable).
  • Correlate classroom content to the clinical setting.
  • Facilitate students’ achievement of course objectives.
  • Facilitate mastery of skills and competencies.
  • Utilize multiple and varied teaching methods applicable to the clinical learning environment.
  • Serve as a nursing resource person for healthcare and local agencies.
  • Model professionalism and demonstrate the ability to teach culturally and linguistically diverse student populations.
  • Professional Development

  • Provide evidence of continued professional development and/or certification in a specialty area of practice and a professional organization.
  • Utilize feedback from student/faculty evaluations for instructional improvement.
  • Serve as a role model for students in professional, social, and civic areas.
  • Research and Investigation

  • Utilize evidence‑based research in teaching and the practice of nursing.
  • Attend research conferences, classes, and symposiums to increase knowledge.
  • Qualifications
    • Master of Science in Nursing Education. Under special circumstances, a baccalaureate degree with preparation in teaching and adult learning may be considered.
    • Minimum two (calendar) years of full‑time RN clinical practice verified with the Board of Nursing.
    • Work experience and/or teaching experience in adult health/medical‑surgical nursing.
    • Current unrestricted Registered Nurse license in North Carolina.
    • CTA certification required if teaching qualifications are not met.
    • Demonstrated clinical expertise in specialty areas.
    • Ability to leverage technologies that engage students in learning, including face‑to‑face clinical instruction.
    • Strong conflict and time‑management skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canvas platforms.
    • Commitment to professional growth through participation in professional organizations, conferences, and workshops.
    • Commitment to diversity, equity, social justice, and inclusive educational environments.

      Commensurate with education and experience.
