Responsibilities of the position are to teach core Therapeutic Recreation courses for undergraduate students. This includes managing the class in face‑to‑face classroom and Therapeutic Recreation settings as well as in the online environment. Instructors will need to have an understanding of local resources for engaging students in the community for practicum component. The instructor must also ensure syllabus, learning outcomes, learning activities and assessments meet program and university standards.
The instructor may be asked to collaborate with Therapeutic Recreation Department faculty in areas such as program assessment.
- Applicants must have a current recreation therapy license in the state of North Carolina (see NC Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure).
- Minimum of a Master’s degree in a related discipline.
- Teaching experience at the college level.
- Effective use of technology, primarily educational platforms such as Canvas.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to a liberal arts education in a diverse educational environment.
- Understanding of local resources for engaging students in the community for practicum component.
- Understanding of the practice of recreation therapy in NC.
