Tutor (part‑time), Academy at Middle Fork (Winston‑Salem, NC)
We are seeking a part‑time tutor to provide one‑on‑one and small‑group instruction in reading and math for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Tutoring sessions occur on Fridays during the weekly Enrichment Day, with priority for students in grades 3‑5.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Model and meet the expectations of the Portrait of a Lab School Team Member.
- Create a fair, considerate, and supportive learning community.
- Use restorative practices to address learning and behavior needs.
- Foster a growth mindset.
- Consult frequently with classroom teachers about the academic needs of students.
- Use and maintain data from pre‑ and post‑assessments to inform instructional decisions.
- Implement evidence‑based strategies to address student‑specific needs, increase engagement, and improve achievement.
- Conduct benchmark assessments to monitor progress and use data to inform tutoring strategies.
- Fully understand and follow expectations set forth by the staff handbook.
- Maintain appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance.
- Respect confidentiality of records and information regarding students, families, and teachers in accordance with professional ethics and state and federal laws.
- Comply with state and federal education statutes, including the NC Code of Ethics for Educators.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Two‑year degree.
- Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
- License/Certification required.
- Degree in elementary education.
- Teaching experience.
Work hours:
Fridays, 7:15 am – 3:15 pm (8 hours per week). 10 months per year. Salary: $25.00 per hour, commensurate with qualifications.
