Perform complex troubleshooting, specialized tests, inspections, and appraisals on electrical apparatus and electrical systems. Technically support a region of service engineers. The position may be mentally demanding, requiring a high level of tolerance and concentration on several projects and activities Senior Field Engineer position requires little or no direct supervision.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform complex troubleshooting, specialized tests, inspections, and appraisals on electrical apparatus and electrical systems.
- Test and troubleshoot complex electrical systems, UPS/Battery systems, and all types of power metering.
- Lead large projects requiring specialized skills such as UPS acceptance tests, commissioning of larger DC systems, supervising turnkey projects, detailed power surveys, and other types of electrical consultation.
- Develop tests and inspections in new field service areas.
- Utilize AC/DC load-banks, power quality recorders, and related equipment for UPS, charger, and battery testing.
- Perform installation, startup, and support on all UPS and DC/battery systems.
- Conduct complex engineering studies as needed.
- Prepare detailed reports and process job billing.
- Prepare client proposals, estimate man‑hours, and develop scope and pricing.
- Engage in client interface and business development activities.
- Deliver technical presentations and publish articles as required.
- Mentor other Field Service Engineers and train staff.

- Strong knowledge of NEC, OSHA, NFPA, and other industry standards.
- Specialized skills in power quality surveys, pilot wire, distance relaying, UPS systems, drive systems, medium and high voltage substation startup, vibration analysis.
- Experience testing of switch gear and equipment up to 500 kV.
- Aptitude for problem evaluation and theoretical understanding of electrical power systems.
- Consistent project completion on budget.
- Excellent communication, supervisory, organizational, and management skills.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Word and Internet research for standards.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, night work, and travel up to several weeks.
