Surgical Technologist, Cardiothoracic Service Line
Join Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist as a full‑time Surgical Technologist in the Cardiothoracic Service Line. This position focuses on supporting operating room and cardiac surgical teams with expertise in sterile instrumentation, patient preparation, and procedural assistance.
Location: Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Wake Forest, NC
Hours: 36 hours/week, full‑time days shift (3x12 “days”)
Pay: $24.85 – $37.30 per hour (sign‑on bonus available)
- Sign‑On Bonus: Eligible for a $7,500 sign‑on bonus where qualification criteria are met.
- Shift
Schedule:
Full time, 3 x 12‑hour day shifts (36 hours per week). - Department: Operating Room – Cardiothoracic Service Line.
- Location: Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
- Day 1 Health Coverage – choice of copay or HSA‑eligible health insurance.
- Parental Benefits – six weeks paid maternity leave for birthing mothers and four weeks paid parental leave for non‑birthing parents.
- Retirement – up to 7 % employer‑paid contribution.
- Education Reimbursement – up to $2,500 per year toward a bachelor’s degree and up to $5,000 per year toward a graduate degree.
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Preferred:
Certification in a specialty area of cardiac technology.
- Support Registered Nurses during cardiac and cardiothoracic procedures.
- Prepare the operating room before and after surgery, including instrument assembly and sterility management.
- Ensure patient safety by anticipating case‑specific needs and communicating effectively with the surgical team.
- Maintain accurate inventory of instruments and supplies, including cost‑containing practices.
- Provide positive, collaborative communication with colleagues and patients.
- Adhere to all safety, quality, and infection‑control standards.
- Thrive under pressure and remain effective during stressful situations.
- Show resilience and adaptability in a dynamic surgical environment.
- Be fluent in systems that ensure patient safety.
- Comfortable with technology and informatics related to operating room workflow.
- Embrace innovative approaches to enhance practice quality.
