Pay Range:

$30.15 - $45.25

Major Responsibilities:
  • Performs duties and responsibilities in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation
  • Performs patient orientations with six minute walks, and exit interviews
  • Assures compliance with guidelines for participant orientation, education, exercise, risk factor modification, and counseling
  • Conducts Phase II and Phase III exercise sessions and provides a safe environment for exercise
  • Maintains confidential patient records in accordance with accepted standards
  • Communicates patient progress through summary outcome reports to primary physician and medical director
  • Assures patient compliance with insurance and Medicare guidelines for reimbursement
  • Performs ongoing quality improvement monitors to evaluate effectiveness of program
  • Markets Pulmonary Rehabilitation program to physicians and respiratory care practitioners
  • Assesses learning needs of Easy Breathers Club; schedules speakers to address those needs and facilitates the meetings
  • Develops learning and competency standards of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation associates and assures annual compliance. Performs and maintains Scott Care telemetry system competencies in all daily/weekly/monthly reporting functions
  • Act as a role model for department associates:
    • Consistently demonstrate behavior that enhances and supports team building by treating others with respect, maintaining composure in stressful or confrontational situations, seeking out factual information rather than rumors, and distinguishing personal from work issues to provide feedback to leadership
    • Abide by all department and hospital policies and procedures
    • Provide support for department and hospital mission, values, and philosophy by maintaining an understanding of those goals and objectives and communicating them to other associates
    • Support and work toward the development of the respiratory care profession by maintaining and keeping skills and knowledge of self and associates up to date with current standards of practice, seeking out self‑development needs from leadership and supporting professional goals and activities
    • Integrate the "customer focus" philosophy into everyday activities both internal and external and proactively work toward integrating these activities into the associate level
  • Assists in Cardiac Rehabilitation program as additional staff member as required
Licensure:

Respiratory Care Practitioner. Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner. Current certification in BLS life support; be willing to prepare for and become ACLS certified.

Education/Experience

Required:

Graduate of two year American Medical Association approved program for Respiratory Care.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Required:

Strong interpersonal, clinical, problem solving, team building and communication skills. Must work well under stressful situations.

Working Conditions:
  • Candidate must be willing to change work hours within the assigned shift, change assigned shift, orientate to and work in all hospital areas and integrate back into routine operation if special programs are dissolved; based on the needs of the hospital, department, work volume and/or patient census.
  • Candidate must be willing to attend all mandatory educational activities and associate meetings, activities and associate meetings, act as a resource for physicians, nursing and ancillary associates in regard to respiratory care practices and maintain and model current standards for respiratory care practices.
  • Candidate must be able to function under stressful, fast paced conditions, communicate in a professional, knowledgeable, respectful manner with superiors, peers, and external customers and foster a team‑building environment when performing job functions.
