Job SummaryThe Clinical Pharmacist provides patient-centered care to patients. This position must: provide pharmaceutical care to patients to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes; promote cost-effective drug therapy; provide assistance in educating pharmacy students, PGY1 and PGY2 residents; participate in research projects to improve the outcomes for critically ill patients; participate on Medical Center and Department committees; adhere to the general hospital standards to promote cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building;
assist with verification of medication orders and distribution of pharmaceutical products; coordinate and participate in the education of pharmacist and other health care professionals in regards to critical care pharmacotherapy; initiate and/or participate in medication utilization evaluations; participate in the drug therapy management in emergency situations; assist in developing and implementing treatment protocols in order to improve patient care.

- Proficiently providing direct patient-centered care and integrated pharmacy operational services to patients with a broad range of disease states and pharmacy needs in their patient population
- Participates in all aspects of the medication-use system while providing comprehensive and individualized pharmaceutical care as a member of interdisciplinary teams
- Additional responsibilities including patient education, medication history and reconciliation services, pharmacy consults/clinical interventions, interdisciplinary collaboration, stewardship of appropriate utilization of medications, integrated operational support, and departmental leadership
- Active membership and participation in multidisciplinary hospital committee is required as well as leadership in departmental clinical education and research activities
- Graduate of ACPE accredited college of pharmacy required
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred
- Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 and PGY2 residency or minimum of 2-4 years of clinical experience in the specific patient population for service line required
- Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in the state of North Carolina required
- Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) certification preferred
