Job Description

Under the direction of the physicians and Registered Nurses or Respiratory Therapists, you will provide technical care of the patients by performing phlebotomy and intravenous (IV) starts, transporting patients to other departments, placing patients on cardiac and vital sign monitors, caring for wounds, inserting Foley catheters, airway management/ventilation and obtaining lab specimens.

Role Overview

Responsible for inter‑facility transfer of patients on the Mobile Critical Care Transport Unit. The staff Paramedic provides comprehensive safe effective medical care to patients transported from referring hospitals under the direction of the medical director. The paramedic will effectively manage the plan of care for each patient based on appropriate protocols, policies and procedures.

Critical Care Transport Paramedic Responsibilities
  • Maintain all required education listed below and attend required staff meetings.
  • Manage the plan of care for each patient based on appropriate protocols, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain competencies in airway management, endotracheal intubation, jugular vein cannulation, needle chest decompression, arterial lines, CVP lines, balloon pumps, portable ventilator and rapid sequence intubation.
  • Work weekends, holidays and shift rotations as needed.
  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing with patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Maintain professional behavior, teamwork, and adherence to department rules and the organization’s standards of behavior.
