Education and Experience

Master's degree in Biostatistics or Statistics with seven years of experience in statistics. Experience analyzing data using statistical package(s) required. Experience working in a biomedical environment preferred.

Essential Functions
  • Collaborate independently or as co-investigator with other biomedical investigators and assist in developing objectives, designing sampling and randomization schemes, and data collection procedures to achieve study objectives.
  • Assume major responsibilities on research projects, including administrative duties (e.g., budget preparation and justification, planning and/or proposing staffing patterns, coordinating training sessions).
  • Assume leadership responsibilities on committees, working groups, and research project teams including directing and/or supervising project personnel, coordinating quality control efforts, and serving on writing teams.
  • Design statistical analyses and report generation procedures for specific research studies, and write statistical methods and results sections of reports and publications.
  • Develop the statistical design and planned analyses for research grant proposals and take primary responsibility for writing statistical design, including sample size, and statistical considerations in grant proposals for faculty throughout the School.
  • Apply for specific extramural grants (e.g., NIH R-O3, private foundation) as principal investigator.
  • Prepare scientific manuscripts and abstracts including primary authorship of research papers.
  • Make oral presentations at professional/scientific meetings, workshops, and seminar series.
  • Participate in teaching of statistics topics within graduate programs.
  • Supervise the work of Biostatisticians I, II, III and Analyst/Programmers serving on the same projects.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to organize data and communicate statistical concepts to non-statisticians.
  • Ability to write statistical considerations for grant proposals.
