Press Operator; Gravure​/Flexo Printing; 3rd Shift

Job Summary

Operate and maintain a rotogravure printing press to produce high‑quality products safely, efficiently, and with minimal waste. Lead and work alongside a small crew to meet production, safety, and quality goals.

Shift

Hours:

10:45pm – 7:00am

• Operate a 10‑unit rotogravure printing press with backside printing capability using solvent‑based and water‑based inks.
• Prepare and set up machines, materials, and cylinders per order specifications.
• Monitor press operation, adjust settings, and troubleshoot issues.
• Load/unload rolls, set web guides, and maintain proper alignment.
• Meet press operating standards for make‑readies and run speeds.
• Perform changeovers, clean‑up, and basic maintenance.
• Lead and direct up to two crew members (Assistant Pressman & Helper/Roll Tender).
• Serve as a role model for safe work practices.
• Communicate production status, quality checks, and process adjustments to team members and supervisors.
• Consistently meet quality requirements.
• Inspect materials and finished products for defects; adjust to meet specifications.
• Provide quality samples and correct non‑conformances.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to improve printing processes.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and proper line clearance.
• Return unused materials and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Dispose of waste and supplies safely.
• Wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures.
• Work with the Safety Team to drive improvements and maintain a safe work environment.
• Report hazards and promote safety awareness within the crew.

• Completion of reading, math, GMP, and safety training.
• Certified Industrial Vehicle Operator (IVO).
• Experience as a qualified press helper/assistant; ability to lead a small crew.
• Gravure printing experience preferred (10‑unit capability);
  Flexo Press Operators or experienced Assistant Operators with multicolor wide web CI experience encouraged.
• Ability to set machine parameters, adjust for quality, and meet production goals.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of inks, printability, die care, and press maintenance.
• Capable of lifting, standing for long periods, and performing repetitive tasks.

• Stand for extended periods (up to 11.5 hours/day).
• Frequent lifting of 0–35 lbs; occasional lifting up to 77 lbs from floor to overhead.
• Regular carrying, pushing, and pulling of shafts or materials weighing up to 77 lbs over short distances (≈5 yards, up to 10 times/day).
• Occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching overhead.
• Repetitive hand and arm motions when adjusting, loading, and monitoring press operations.

• Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and potential ink or solvent fumes.
• Rotating shifts, extended hours, and weekend work may be required.
• Work performed while standing and moving for most of the shift.
