Utility Technician, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Supervises a shift of operators and is responsible for plant operations during this time.
Performs routine technical and responsible skilled work in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plant and equipment associated within; makes regular tours of plant and checks engines, generators, pumps, settling tanks, filters, and other equipment for proper functioning; records readings from meters and instruments; changes charts, regulates and adjusts motors, pumps, valves, and other apparatus to meet changing operating conditions;
performs specific laboratory tests; cleans and services pumps, motors and other equipment, makes minor or emergency repairs; reports defects to maintenance personnel.
Shift work is required.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma supplemented by courses in water plant operations and considerable experience in operating a water treatment facility. Possession of a valid certification from the State Board of Certification of Water Treatment Facility Operator at the Grade A level or B level with the ability to obtain an A certification within two attempts.
Physical RequirementsMust be able to lift or move up to 50lbs. and maneuver up to 1 mile; must be able to climb, work with small objects and operate light equipment; must possess good communication skills. This position will work indoors and outdoors and may be exposed to changing weather, adverse smells and loud sounds.
Possession of a valid Drivers License.
