Job Summary: Independently plans and provides professional nursing care for patients in the ambulatory clinic settings in accordance with the medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Directs and leads other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice.
Education/ Experience
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
- BSN preferred.
- Two years of acute care experience required.
- Prefer acute care experience within the last 10 years.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of North Carolina.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
- Provides patient/family‑centered care, acting as partner and adviser, assisting and supporting patients and families to manage their health care.
- Applies critical reasoning and astute clinical judgment to expedite appropriate care and treatment, especially when patients have complex or potentially life‑threatening conditions.
- Facilitates continuity of care using the nursing process, multidisciplinary collaboration, and coordination of appropriate health‑care services across the care continuum.
- Applies the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses to professional obligations and patient care.
- Engages in professional development, maintaining required competencies and participating in shared governance, peer review, and quality improvement activities.
- Focuses on patient safety and quality of nursing care by identifying and clarifying patient needs, performing procedures, providing health education, and coordinating care.
- Provides leadership and operational accountability for nursing services, including skill mix and delegation of roles for licensed and unlicensed personnel.
- Complies with federal requirements, state laws, nurse practice acts, regulatory standards, and institutional policies.
- Participates in regular team meetings and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Maintains knowledge of patient care coordination, self‑management, population management, and communication skills.
- Clear communication with patients, families, visitors, the health‑care team, physicians, administrators, and leadership.
- Assessment of nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families.
- Ability to independently seek resources and collaborate effectively.
- Ability to teach patients and families in accordance with the nursing plan of care.
- Basic computer skills and capacity to learn new software programs.
$32.45 – $48.70 per hour
