A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is an advanced practice registered nurse providing safe, quality, age‑appropriate anesthesia. The position is also a Clinical Instructor: the CRNA directs, supervises, and evaluates Student Nurse Anesthetists. The role requires a current RN license in North Carolina, certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists, ACLS and BLS certifications.
Responsibilities- Ensure age/developmentally appropriate peri‑operative and anesthesia care in accordance with age‑specific care guidelines.
- Support patient safety, quality improvement and infection prevention through participation in facility and departmental initiatives.
- Appropriately document and maintain confidential records per departmental and hospital standards.
- Maintain flexibility with scheduling, promptness and readiness to provide patient care as needed.
- Demonstrate professionalism through teamwork, collaboration and ongoing professional educational growth.
- Conserve resources to address cost containment.
- Ability to perform clinically as a nurse anesthetist by demonstrating competency in clinical responsibilities as delineated by clinical privileges.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary clinical staff.
- Current RN license from North Carolina and certification or recertification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists.
- ACLS and BLS certifications.
Physical Requirements
- Highly stressful operating room or procedural environments.
- Exposure to anesthetic gases, moderate to high noise, well‑lit and temperature‑controlled settings.
- Long clinical hours may be required.
Physical requirements:
standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, hand dexterity, speaking, hearing, seeing. Lifting up to 20 lbs (or 50/100 lbs as needed).
