Position Status: Full time |
Hours: 40 hrs per week |
Schedule: Generally Monday–Friday with variable hours to ensure coverage with night and weekend staff |
Pay Range: $40.30 – $60.45 |

6CC is a 40-bed oncology unit with 20 beds dedicated to Leukemia service and 20 beds dedicated to HOA service. HOA is an oncology service providing symptom management for a wide variety of cancer patients, focusing on side effects such as nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, pain management, fevers/infections, failure to thrive, etc. We provide compassionate and supportive care to our patients and their families.
We’reLooking For
- Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program
- Current RN license in the applicable state
- Required:
BSN and 3 years' experience in Oncology - Preferred: oncology-specific national certification (OCN). Required within 1 year of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Teach and demonstrate proficiency in patient physical assessment skills, patient care and nursing skills (mobility, respiratory care, nutrition, pain management, oral care, infection prevention, lift equipment).
- Reinforce policies and procedures, protocols and guidelines with nursing staff.
- Coordinate nursing‑centered rounds and bedside reporting in conjunction with the Nurse Manager/Case Manager, with ability to phase in multidisciplinary rounds.
- Provide population‑specific unit educational programs in collaboration with preceptors and staff development instructors in informal, on‑site settings.
- Ensure quality of professional services by demonstrating and maintaining competency through updating knowledge and skills and continuing professional growth.
- Communicate in an effective, positive, and professional manner, role‑modeling behaviors associated with Caring Science.
- Create and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co‑workers, and facility including assisting in teaching interpretation of and developing strategies to address nurse‑sensitive indicators and performance improvement.
- Support provision of age/developmentally appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
Effective oral, written, listening, and interpersonal communication skills; critical thinking skills; delegation skills; knowledge of policies and procedures; ability to synthesize and prioritize knowledge; ability to tailor teaching to different learning styles.
